Envoy Korea  ·  Seoul

Your brand, actively managed in Korea.

We manage end-to-end market operations for North American consumer brands in Korea. We negotiate importer terms, launch sales channels, direct marketing campaigns and track market data.

What we do

Your entire Korean market operation. Simplified.

Four functions that typically sit with four different providers, run by one accountable partner in Seoul.

01 · Importer

Importer and Negotiation

We find, vet and negotiate your Korean importer, or manage the one you already have. The terms are negotiated on your side of the table, and every importer signs a tripartite agreement before an introduction is made.

02 · Compliance

Registration and Compliance

Product registration and Korean labeling are handled through the importer, with our licensed customs broker confirming the regulatory path for every SKU before anything ships.

03 · Channel

Channel and Pricing

We set up and quality-control your listings on Naver, Coupang and your category's specialist retailers. We also ensure that retail prices in Korea stay within the range agreed upon with the importer.

04 · Marketing

Marketing and Demand

We plan and oversee your Korean campaigns through our Seoul agency partners and handle discussions with creators and brand ambassadors.

This approach provides you with an official distribution channel and a fully-managed operations arm inside the Korean market.

Complementary Services

Full Korean branch operations with zero local overhead.

If an importer is already in place, we manage that relationship rather than replace it. If not, we establish one. Three products reach you every month:

Monthly · 01

Korean Market Data Report

Detailed market listings and prices, search volume, consumer posts and the customs and trademark registers and more. Every figure is carefully sourced and tracked month on month.

Monthly · 02

The Action Summary

A review of completed actions, upcoming milestones, and key decisions requiring your sign-off. This includes pricing, platform placement, Korean trademark enforcement, and importer performance.

Monthly · 03

Scheduled Calls

Direct, ongoing access to our team for dedicated account management and strategy discussions. In addition to regular, agenda-driven calls, our team resolves questions and approvals within one Seoul business day.

We still provide these services during months with no purchase orders.

The market gap

Providers handle market entry or operations, not both.

Phase operations

A clear roadmap to long-term scaling in Korea.

Phase 01

Importer Selection

We vet and shortlist importers using our proprietary database and official customs records. By managing parallel negotiations, we preserve your leverage and secure optimal terms. Every partner signs a tripartite agreement prior to introduction.

Phase 02

Channel and Launch

Registration and Korean labeling are managed alongside your importer. We build and quality-control your storefronts, distributors and key specialist platforms as well as establish your pricing structure and execute the launch campaign.

Phase 03

Growth

We monitor sell-through metrics against the brand's own historical baseline, expanding sales channels as performance improves. Our team synchronizes marketing with Korea’s key retail calendar and initiates brand ambassador conversations when you are ready to scale further.

*Launch dates are set by your category's regulatory status and confirmed with our licensed customs broker against your real SKU list. Regulatory timelines vary significantly by product type. While apparel features a fast-track entry process, health functional foods and supplements require mandatory pre-market regulatory approval in Korea, which may necessitate reformulation on your R&D schedule.

Commercial terms

A clearly defined investment

A flat monthly retainer and a commission on the value you invoice your Korean importer. No discovery fees or upfront price negotiations. Our incentives are aligned with yours.

Monthly retainer
USD 8,650 / month
Covers everything across all three operational phases and ongoing management. Invoiced monthly in advance.
Commission
7.5% of your invoice
On what you invoice your Korean importer, net of taxes, freight, discounts and returns. Calculated on your invoice, never on the importer's margin.
Flexible Commitment
No minimum term. Terminable on 30 days’ written notice.
Dedicated Korean Mandate
We represent your brand in Korea for the duration of our agreement.
Conflict-Free Commission
Commission is tied directly to what you invoice, not the importer’s margin. This ensures zero conflict of interest when negotiating terms on your behalf.

We maintain complete accountability for our strategic execution and advisory work. However, commercial outcomes remain subject to market conditions, importer performance, and client-side decisions. Specific sales targets or launch dates cannot be guaranteed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The four things brands ask first.

How does your service differ from trade commissioners or government support programs like KOTRA?
Government trade offices provide valuable market data and high-level introductions, and we actively encourage utilizing their resources. However, our function is fundamentally different. KOTRA and trade commissioners do not act as your direct agent: they do not negotiate commercial terms on your behalf, nor do they handle operational bottlenecks like customs clearances. Furthermore, as a government entity, KOTRA's primary objective is attracting business into Korea. Our sole mandate is securing the most favorable commercial terms and outcomes for your brand.
What if we are already in discussions with a potential Korean distributor?
Direct distributor interest is a strong indicator of market demand. However, it is vital to consider who is advocating for your interests at the negotiating table. A distributor naturally negotiates to protect their own margins, exclusivity, and territorial rights. Without dedicated representation, your commercial position is unrepresented. Rather than replacing existing distributor dialogues, we step in alongside you to negotiate optimal terms from a position of strength.
Why not simply hire a consultant to conduct a market entry study?
For isolated strategic questions, a traditional consultancy may suffice. The distinction lies in execution versus advice. A consultant delivers a static report and exits the engagement. Our mandate involves continuous, hands-on oversight measured against live market dynamics and your specific financial performance metrics. Because a portion of our compensation is performance-aligned, we share direct commercial accountability in your success.
Will establishing an official channel eliminate grey-market sellers?
No, and any advisor promising complete elimination is misrepresenting local enforcement realities. Korean law permits the parallel importation of authentic goods, meaning unauthorized resellers operate legally. An official presence provides strategic control rather than total exclusion: key marketing rights, access to premium retail channels, formal return structures, price corridor management, and long-term brand equity. Crucially, securing a registered Korean trademark grants legal standing to enforce IP-based listing takedowns. Because South Korea follows a strict "first-to-file" trademark policy, early registration remains vital.
